Traveling in Taiwan (Part 1- Tainan)

Best thing in Taiwan? Traveling!

I've been living in Taiwan for almost 4 years now and there's still a lot of places I haven't been to! But anyways, I would like to share to you my experience regarding the places I've been to in Taiwan. I will also share with you how I got there or other things you could do there too.

Let me start with the closest one... To my heart...

TAINAN
Tainan City is located at the Southern part of Taiwan (based on it's Chinese name 台南 or South Taiwan). According to Wikipedia, Tainan is considered to be the oldest city in Taiwan! When the Dutch came to Taiwan, they built Fort Zeelandia as a trading base under the Dutch East India Company.

Okay, so enough history! So how to get to Tainan? Simple! From Taoyuan International Airport terminals 1 and 2, buses are readily available at the arrival area! It would only cost you around 300 New Taiwan Dollars (NTD) or 10 US Dollars for a 4 hour drive to Tainan. But if you prefer something extravagant, you can always use Taiwan's High-Speed Rail which would take you 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to Tainan!

Now, you're there already, you've checked-in already at your hotel... Now what? Well, there are quite a few places you could go and visit in Tainan but aren't really that great and all but still it's a good place to eat and relax. And if you ask anyone who lives in Tainan, where you have to be? They will always say... ANPING!

It's a fun place to be, specially if you're together with wacky and adventurous people (in my case, I was with my family! hehe) The food there's great! And I think the architecture's a nice thing to ponder with and the people there are very friendly. So if you happen to pass by Tainan, go visit Anping!

Another interesting place to visit in Tainan would be my alma mater, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). According to QS Top Universities, NCKU ranks 37th among other Universities in ASIA and 247th all over the world. NCKU covers at least 1.83 sq. km of land.

Tainan will always have a special place in my heart. It has been my home for the past 3 and a half years. I know that I'll be moving along soon as well in order for me to achieve growth. I'm glad that Tainan was the first city I've been to.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
